Alternate Medical Board has appealed to Ogun state Governor prince Dapo Abiodun to declare August 22 for ISESE DAY.
The appeal was made during the a special prayer organized by the Ijo Babalawo and Onifas’ in the state to make its 61st Birthday and second year anniversary in office for the governor, held at the June 12 Cultural Center Kuto Abeokuta,the state capital.
Chief Aregbesola Anipupo the Oluwo Ifa of Ogun State further appealed to the governor to grant them the long agitating Isese public holiday.
His words “Governor Dapo Abiodun has elevated us and our jobs in the State and we can now compete favourably with our collegue in other southwest state on Alternate Medicine practices. This the first time in the history of the State and we have nothing to offer him than our loyalty and prayers because nothing is above prayer, we are also begging the governor to declare August 22 as Isese holiday date just like they have done in others south west States.
” Let me also acknowledge the giant straides of the governor in the State, especially on the unity and peaceful coexistence among different religious groups as remained appreciated. especially the manners of which is balancing governmen involvement in religeous matters and we are very proud to be associated with Prince Dapo Abiodun”.
Speaking at the event, The state Governor, prince Dapo Abiodun represented by the Chairman Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board , Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye assured them that their request will be table before the governor, while Commending the gesture and ingenuity of the Traditional illers under the aegis of Ijo Babalawo and Onifas’ in the State for their support for the present adminstration.
The Governor further re- assured its administration committment to transform Alternate Medicine practice to world class standard as part of effort to further meet health challenges of the people especially those at the grass roots.
He also, noted that his administration had put in place policies and programmes that would ensure that the sub- sector developed to world class standard.
On his part, special adviser to the governor on health, Dr. Ololade Lawal, stated that the present administration in the state will not relent in its effort at providing necessary support for them at all time adding that since Government has realized the significant and opportunities abound in the use of Alternate Medicine as well is patronages by the people.
However, the Governor charged them to always take their practice serious and make sure that they register and validate all their necessary documents with the board in order for them to enjoy Government supports.
